Concours d’ Elegance

What is a Concours d' Elegance?

Contributed by Rink Reinking

A concours is a "clean-car contest" and car show, where the entrant's car is judged by its condition, appearance, and cleanliness. Outstanding examples Inspection at a concours are considerably better than as-delivered from the showroom, even though some of the cars may be over fifty years old! Our events offer several divisions, from "full concours", where the entire car is examined, including the underside, to "street," where only the exterior, interior, luggage and engine compartments are judged. The "wash and shine" division is judged for interior and exterior only and the "unrestored" division is for cars with original paint, interior, and accessories. There are various classes within each division to further subdivide the cars by year and model. Finally, we have awards for "peoples' choice" or "judges' choice" where the popular vote determines the winner. This allows many owners a chance to win an award.

Southern Arizona Region's Concours d'Elegance

Our Cinco de Mayo event has received outstanding mention as one of the premier Porsche Club of America Concours events in the western United States. We often have a wash-and-shine school prior to Cinco de Mayo so you can learn how to prepare your car for the concours. Come and show off your beautiful Porsche to many admirers, or come and admire the unique and gorgeous cars.
Other nearby regions also hold Concours d'Elegance. Events are also listed in the Zuffenhausen News. Because our region is in PCA's Zone 8, we can compete within Zone 8 for trophies. Our New Mexico and Utah neighbors are in Zone 9.
